Wordless Wednesday: Boldt Castle

One of the many stops we made on our trip east was in Alexandria Bay to view Boldt Castle. Unfortunately, we did not have enough time to go over to Heart Island and walk the grounds. I had the opportunity to do this in 2002 with my girls. If you are ever on a road trip through NY, I definitely recommend a stop here. The castle and the grounds are absolutely stunning, not to mention the history here as well.

  1. As a little kid, this was one of my favorite places. My Mom’s family was/is in the Watertown NY area. When we would go to visit her family, I loved visiting Heart Island and imagining what my life would have been like living in a castle on an island LOL

It really is a “must see” if you are in the area.

  2. I must add that this Wordless Wednesday is not so wordless. I put the post together late Sunday evening and did not give it another thought until this morning, that is when I realized, I wrote a post that was to be wordless. LOL!

Karen, thanks for stopping by and commenting. It is truly one of my favorite places to see!

  3. Thanks so for posting this. It brought back the best memories. We celebrated my parents 40th anniversary in Gananoque and the 1000 Islands – a spectacular time and location. I’ll be smiling all day.

  4. I’d forgotten about Boldt Castle until I saw your post. My husband’s family live in upstate NY not far from Alexandria Bay. We spent a day at Boldt Castle one summer and I think it’s the most romantic place — that he would build the castle for her and then leave it unfinished after she died. Thanks for reminding me about this wonderful place!

    1. Nancy, I must agree that is definitely romantic place with such a sad story behind it.

The day I spent with my daughters here there, we watched as someone took tons of pictures of a bridal party. How romantic to be married there!
