On our trip to Ireland last fall, I knew I wanted to visit one of the old villages to get a feel for the way my ancestors probably lived in the 1800s, during the famine. It was not something that was on my official list, but it was in my head to stop if we happened to come across a village in our travels. We happened to get very lucky on our last day in County Kerry, while driving the Ring of Kerry.
