I do know that one of the unknown children is Augusta Jonas, I just do not know her birth order. Source for Augusta is from an Aunt and a newspaper article about the death of Martha.

I believe the other unknown child is John Jonas who married Ida Vick. They are buried close to William and Marie Jonas in Niles, IL. But, I do need to find the connection to bring the families together. One of the witnesses for the marriage of John and Ida Jonas  is Emma Jonas. Emma is child #3 of William and Marie, if John does fit into this family, he would be child # 1 or 2.

Do you have any Jonas relations? My research into this family has been very recent and I would love to connect with anyone that has is a relation to the above mention people.

  1. I saw your web page send wonder if there could be a connection.  My grandfather, Otto Jonas was born in Germany in 1892 and his father was Wilhelm Jonas.  Some of the other names are also matches.  Close fit but not quite a match to the dates.  Still maybe relations?

Where in Germany was your Wilhelm Jonas from.?  Do you know his profession. ?   Do you have any photos. ?

    1. Jeff, Thanks for commenting. My Jonas family came to the US from Pommeran.
Wilhelm had many different jobs, which I tracked through the census records. He was a: gardener, and laborer (in a greenhouse). Unfortunately, I do not have any pictures of him, though I do have one or two of his wife.

  2. No definitely doesn’t look like a match. My great grandfather Wilhelm was from the town of Neuwied – it’s seems to be almost 500 miles from Pommeran, which was a pretty long distance in those days. He had a twin – Albert, and they were in the cattle trade business. My grandfather left for the US when he was around 12 years old but sadly most of his siblings died in WWII. We have no idea what happened to his parents or his Uncle’s family. I was hoping there may be some connection but it seems unlikely.
