Thanks for mentioning the Georgetown Memory Project. When I heard that the show was researching a descendant, I didn’t know who it was. I had found many accomplished descendants, but no one who rose to the level of “famous.” With the few details I got, I was able to narrow it down to a particular line. I traced them down another generation and spotted the name Merkerson in an obituary. I’m not particularly familiar with celebrities, but I knew who she was! That’s been my experience over the past 3+ years–one amazing discovery after another. It would make a mini-series!
