Celebrate Your Irish Heritage
I cannot believe it is March already! This year is going by quickly, and it jut started. It’s time to celebrate your Irish heritage! With St. Patrick’s Day just around the corner, I thought I would pull together a list of genealogy events for the month that are focused on Irish Genealogy.
10 March: Newberry Library will be hosting the “Irish Genealogy and Research Program.” This lecture will be given by the Ulster Historical Foundation and starts at noon. This program is free and no registration is needed. Keep in mind if you drive to Newberry you will either have to feed the parking meter or pay to park in the nearby garage (should be about $9).
12 March: St. Patrick’s Festival at the Irish American Heritage Center. Go and celebrate your Irish heritage at the center; make sure to stop by the library between 1 and 6pm for help with researching your Irish roots. Otherwise, join the rest of Chicago’s Irish clans in celebrating St. Patrick’s Day at the Irish Centers annual festival which runs til midnight.
16 March: Fountaindale Library will be hosting an all day event titled, “Irish Genealogy – Resources for Success.” This lecture will be given by the Ulster Historical Foundation and starts at 9:30am. Make sure you arrive early. This all day seminar requires advance registration.
20 March: IAHC Genealogy meeting. Join the monthly meeting which happens a week early because of the Easter holiday. The meeting starts at 1pm and goes til roughly 4pm. Bring your latest Irish genealogical problem that you might need help smashing through.
If you are located in Illinois and are hosting an Irish genealogical event this month, please Please share it with us! and I will add it to this list.
