Ancestor Approved
A new award has been making its way around the genea blogging community. Thanks to Sharon at Kindred Footprints for honoring Finding Our Ancestors with this award. I would also like to thank Ancestors Live Here for initiating this award.
My instructions are to list ten things I have learned about any of my ancestors that has surprised, humbled, or enlightened me and to then pass the award along to ten other bloggers whom I feel are doing their ancestors proud so here goes…
Surprised when I found out that I my Great Great Grandmother, Nettie Ann (Warden) Richmond, was a member of the Order of the Eastern Star. I was even more surprised when I found out that she was the Most Worth Matron for a year.
Surprised, while I was Keeping Family Stories Alive that my Springer Family is actually the Fontaine Family.
Surprised in my Search of NY Descendants, that I was able to find my Grandfather’s, A. Lawrence O’Connell, cousins. This is one of my families that I truly have barely any information on.
Surprised that my Richmond line could be direct descendants from the Mayflower. This is not based on my research but on research of numerous cousins. I hope to be able to spend time on this in the future and will blog about it then.
Humbledto have found ancestors that fought in the Revolutionary War. This too is something I need to spend time on putting together a post for Finding Our Ancestors.
Humbled to be part of a hard working family who have come out of the West Virginia coal mines, with all the news coverage the past few days on the mine explosion in Raleigh County, WV. I am sincerely happy that my family moved away in the 50’s.
Humbled to be my families historian. Though many of them do not understand my obsession with genealogy, they do listen to my stories.
Enlightened to continue sharing family information with newly found cousins and with my immediate family members.
Enlightenedto have found information on my mother-in-laws Russian line, Where the Poray’s came from continues being a hard family to research.
Enlightened to share my love of genealogy and blogging with my niece Samantha who has started adding her husband’s family lines to ours. Though she does not have enough time in the day to do what she likes, she does update her blog when she has the time.
