Our Lady of Angels

Today we remember all the lives lost  on December 1, 1958 due to a fire that broke out in the basement of Our Lady of Angels School in Chicago, IL. The fire lead to the death of 95 people, 3 nuns and 92 children. A list of the those that died can be found here.

The Greater Fire Museum of Chicago has framed the iconic newspaper photograph that was taken as a firefighter carried a student out of the fire.

Under the photo is a model of the school and two notebooks full of photos and articles about the fire.
