James E Walker was born in June of 1861 to Washington and Lucinda (Delong / Long) Walker, in the state of Ohio.

On 29 Apr 1880, James married Melvina Rollins / Rawlins in Lawrence County, Ohio. James and Melvina had nine children:

During his life James was a laborer, a farm laborer and in 1910 he was a coal miner for the Riley Coal Mine, where they lived in the Riley Coal Town of Skelton, WV.

On Thursday, 22 Oct 1914 James was at the United Mine Workers Hall working as their secretary. He had a stroke that caused paralysis and hemorrhage of the brain. Unfortunately, he passed on 23 Oct 1914 at his home. He is buried in the Wildwood Cemetery.¹
